SANDED ROSES tutorial

Hi Stampers!
Today's card features a technique that is oh-so-easy but has a great WOW! factor -- sanded DSP.
©Stampin' Up! 1988-2012
To make it you will need:

     Itty Bitty Banners stamp set
Soft Suede and Regal Rose card stock
     Brights Designer Series Paper pack
     Regal Rose classic ink pad
     Manhattan Flower embossing folder
     Bitty Banners Framelits
Big Shot & platform, standard cutting pads
     Sanding block
     Glue Stick, or other adhesiv
     Paper snips
 Here's what you do:
1.  Cut Soft Suede card stock 5.5" x 8.5".  Score long edge at 4.25" (card base)
2.  On a scrap of Regal rose card stock, stamp the Itty Bitty Banners greeting.
3.  Using the Big Shot, emboss the Manhattan Flower image onto a 4.25" x 5.5" piece of Regal Rose designer series paper; then cut out the stamped greeting using the Bitty Banners Framelits -- they were made for each other!
4.  Adhere flower image to card front.  Expose white core of DSP by lightly sanding the raised image.
5. Using the snips, trim away the extra card stock on the card front along the upper edge of the roses.
6.  Adhere greeting to upper right corner of the now exposed inner card.
Voila! In just a few minutes, a thing of beauty.
Play with different color combinations to make your own beautiful card bouquet.
Thanks for stopping by.  I love to read your comments, so feel free to drop me a line.
Until the next time,  HAPPY STAMPING!

Welcome, Baby

Hi Stampers!

My niece and her infant son Liam came for a family visit recently.  Since they live overseas, it was the first time the family Stateside got to meet the wee one.  Using my stamp-a-ma-jig and the rattle stamp from the Button Buddies set (one of my favorites), I was able to create this adorable card quickly. Liam's mom loved it.

Though a clean and simple card, both the repeated image and the variety of color add to the appeal of the card. The white panel is popped up on dimensionals to give the card a very finished look.  No embellishments makes it mailable with no additional postage (a real plus for those of us who still like sending greetings the old-fashioned way).

Supplies you will need to create this card:
*Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise card stock
*Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, Night of Navy classic stampin'  pads
*Button Buddies and Petite Pairs stamp sets
*stamp-a-ma-jig
stampin' dimensionals, SNAIL adhesive

Inspiration for my card came from p. 72 of the 2012-2013 Stampin' Up catalog.  Be sure to check it out!
Don't have a catalog?  You can see it on line at my website: www.trishhernandez.stampinup.net
or contact me to receive a personal copy.

Until the next time,
HAPPY STAMPING!
Trish
Hi Stampers!

Recently my friend Eloise attended a stamping event; she asked for me to come along and help.  Here are Two of the beautiful cards we created:

While both make use of Elegant Eggplant card stock, how distinctive each card is.
The butterfly image comes from Stampin' Up's "Kindness Matters"  stamp set which is currently still available from the 2012-2013 catalog.

I never realized just what I packrat I have become until I looked at the ever-growing number of boxes where I stash the bits and pieces left over from projects -- seemingly too good to pitch, yet I never seem to get back to them.  I need some breathing space in my craft room!

My project for today is to bring order to the chaos --  die cuts and punched pieces;  textured and designer paper scraps; ribbon, stickers, etc.  I'll be tossing what no longer is in good condition (gasp!)  Tomorrow, much of these supplies will find a use in our church's summer Sunday school; this year the children are each making a personal scrapbook of their lessons and Bible verses.  I can hardly wait to see how my old supplies find new life in their hands.

So we come to the question, what is in your stash?  When was the last time you visited it?  What will you do with what you find there?

Thanks for stopping by.   Let me know how I can help you be your most creative you.

Stampingly yours,
Trish

Lou's WAVE card

Hi Stampers,

Thanks for stopping by.  My husband Lou is one of those guys who enjoys taking paper and ink in hand to fashion his own cards.  The card below is an example of his paper crafting, inspired by one he saw a while back in a card crafting magazine.  I just had to share it with you.

I love the movement Lou created through his color choices  and the wavy cuts of card stock.  And look at the way his layout creates the illusion of a mat framing his central image.

An added plus of this design is that such a card is a great way to use up paper from your scrap box.

The sentiment, stamped in Basic Black classic ink, is from the Word for You  stamp set, which will continue over into the 2012-2013 catalog.

Just a reminder that no stamps on the retired list will be available after May 31.  Items on the retired accessories lists are available as supplies last or until May 31.   Be sure to order your favorites before they are gone at www.trishhernandez.stampinup.net

Waving good-bye until the next time,

HAPPY GRAD

Hi Stampers,
Today's card was created for my young friend Katie who was recently awarded her Bachelor of Science degree. Like yesterday's card, school colors were chosen, making this an easy card to give that personal touch.
Real Red + Basic Black = a classic color combination I never tire of.  The red card stock was texturized by running it through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice embossing folder.
The flower comes from the Mixed Bunch stamp set, punched out using the Blossom punch, and popped up with dimensionals.  To make the center, I used a 3/4" Circle Punch with a dimensional.  And a Rhinestone Jewel gives the card just the right amount of sparkle.
Both the Gingham Ribbon and the Happy Grad stamp are retired products, but could easily be swapped out.
Are you wondering how the 2 color stamping was done on the sentiment?  Our Stampin' Write markers make it easy as pie!
Thanks for stopping by.  Happy Stamping!

MAY means...

Hi Stampers!

Besides Mother's Day, mention "May" and someone is sure to think of graduations.  Below is a card that I did for our great niece who graduates from high school next week.

Inspired by one brought to me by my upline, Eloise Roys, for this one I chose Erin's school colors (I love how stamping my own cards enables me to personalize for the recipients.

Here I used Night of Navy and Whisper White card stock with a Night of Navy brad.

The tassel was made with embroidery floss.

The inside was stamped in Night of Navy and Green Galore (retired) inks, using a stamp from the Sprinkled Expressions set from our 2012 Sale-a-bration catalog.

The scoring was a snap using the new Simply Scored and Diagonal Plate, both of which will carry over into the new catalog which goes live June 1.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

To all the moms and mom of moms who may read this, a very warm Happy Mother's Day to each of you.  I hope your day is extra special in every way.  My boys are grown and live out of town with their families of their own, but phones and the internet are amazing devices for keeping in touch with one and all.

This morning my husband surprised me with a lovely corsage;  Friday  he met with the florist, choosing very carefully the flowers he wanted included.  He snuck it into the house and hid it in the fridge -- now how in the world could I miss seeing it, especially tied up with the magenta ribbon matching the one in the corsage?  While the flowers in time will wilt, the memory will not --especially with a picture to keep it fresh in my mind. (I love cameras!)

May all your days bloom with love!

HELLO (and soon good-bye) card

Images©Stampin' Up! 1990-2012

A happy Friday hello to all my stamping friends.  Thank you for taking a little break with me.
Tonight is Club Night for me.  I so love getting together with my friends for some conversation and time of creating cards, including the one above.  Don't you just how the colors all work together? So spring-y, just like the weather we are having here today.  And the layout adapts itself to a whole new look simply by changing out the colors, stamps and punches.

Here's what I used to make my card:
CARD STOCK Confetti White* base (that little dot peeking out from under the green strip is not a goof, it's "confetti") , plus scraps for stamped elements; 3-3/4" X 1-1/8" strips of Poppy Parade*, Blushing Bride*, Pear Pizzazz* and Peach Parfait*; and Crumb Cake
STAMP SETS:  Flight of the Butterfly*; Posy Punch*; Button, Button
INKS:  Poppy Parade*, Pear Pizzazz* classic ink pads; Versamark pad
PUNCHES:  Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer*, Butterfly*, 1" Circle, Fancy Flower
OTHER:  Circle Fire Rhinestone brads*

Did you notice all the *s in the lists.  Those are among the products that Stampin' Up! is retiring on May 30.  If your favorite is among them (or any of the ton of other products we will soon say good-bye to), be sure to visit the ,SHOP NOW store on my website. (Psst-- some accessories are being offered at discounts.  I hear the sound of money saved!).

Until the next time,  happy stamping!

EXTREME CARDS for BOYS

Hi Stampers!
Thanks for visiting my blog today.

For me, creating cards for boys and men is always a challenge.

To celebrate the recent Scouting and academic achievements of 3 of our grandsons, I quickly put together  these single layer cards featuring retired ala carte stamps, Extreme Bike, Extreme    Skateboard, Extreme Guitar.

Black embossed central images and brayering in a variety of ways made each card unique.  I hope the boys will really go for them.  What do you think?

Happy stamping!
